Chris Hill, 31, of Dayton, turned himself at the Dayton Police Department headquarters downtown shortly after noon today, Aug. 6, according to police.
Authorities said Hill and 12 other men arrested after an 18-month investigation coordinated by the FBI are members of the Dayton-based Diamond Cut gang.
Each man faces single counts on a federal charge of distributing cocaine in excess of 50 grams and conspiracy to distribute heroin.The FBI, along with Dayton police, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marshals Service and numerous other local law enforcement agencies began rounding up 12 of the alleged gang members at 6 a.m. Tuesday.Federal seizure warrants have been obtained for 10 vehicles. Ten homes were searched also.The men range in age from 21 to 51.Tuesday afternoon, eight of them appeared in federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael R. Merz, who set a bond hearing for Friday, Aug. 8. They were placed in the Butler County Jail, he said.Sheriff Phil Plummer said his office has identified at least 18 gangs in the area and that Diamond Cut is "one of the largest."
