William Gary Pangman former president of the Manitoba Warriors street gang was one of two men arrested in connection with a violent incident early Saturday in which three men were injured. The three men -- aged 52, 29 and 23 -- were attacked in a parking lot in the 1100-block of Arlington Street about 2:50 a.m. and suffered non-life threatening injuries Less than 30 minutes after the attack, which involved a broken bottle, Winnipeg police found and arrested 34-year-old William Gary Pangman of Winnipeg in the backyard of a home on Beacon Street just north of Health Sciences Centre in the city's core area. Pangman a former president of the Manitoba Warriors, has a lifetime weapons ban due to previous convictions. He has been charged with assault-related offences, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000 in connection with the incident on Arlington. He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. A second suspect, a 29-year-old man, was arrested after an investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service's organized crime unit. He is facing an assault charge and was released on a promise to appear in court, so police did not release his name. In June 2008 Pangman was charged with possession of a firearm and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance after a drive-by shooting in which a house on Dorothy Street was hit by up to 30 bullets, police said at the time. Pangman was also charged in Operation Northern Snow, a police sting targeting 35 Manitoba Warriors and affiliates, in 1998. Two years later, he received a 4 1/2-year prison sentence for conspiracy to traffic cocaine and other offences.
